CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Carl Scharpff, 76, of Seattle, Washington, died on Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G.L. Hazelett, in Seattle, Washington.
He was the father of Ed Scharpff, 304 South Jackson St., and had been ill about a year and a half following a stroke.
He was born in Hamburg, Germany, November 18, 1872, and came to Clarksville, Iowa, at the age of 22; had been a salesman for the Sherman nursery in Charles City, from 1940 to 1943.
He lived here with his son for two years and then went to Seattle, where he resided with his daughter.
His wife preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Butler Masonic lodge #94 at Clarksville, where he was in the grocery business for several years. He leaves, besides the son here, and the daughter in Seattle, another son, Alfred, of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hammel and Martin Funeral Home at Clarksville, with the Masons in charge. Burial in Lynwood cemetery at Clarksville.
