Louisa Dahl was born July 21, 1826 at Mecklenberg, Vorpommern, Germany to parents unknown. She emigrated to Scott County, Iowa.

Louisa married Henry Jochim Ahrens at Davenport, Scott, IA. about 1855 to 1856. The couple moved to settle on farmland that Henry's father had purchased in Pittsford township, Butler County, Iowa.

The couple (Louisa and Henry Ahrens) had 4 sons and 1 adopted daughter:
1. Theodore Henry Ahrens (born September 1856 Butler, Iowa, married Rebecca Mathilda Knoll December 12, 1880 at Sturgis Falls, Black Hawk, Iowa, died February 20, 1932 Luverne, Kossuth, Iowa. 10 children: Ida Louise, Ervin, Pearl G, Minetta A, Clarence, Enola K, Henry Walter, Lucille Rebecca, Ethel E, Clifford).

2. James Benjamin Ahrens (born January 13, 1858 Pittsford, Butler, Iowa, married Alvena Messerschmidt 1889, Butler, Iowa, died July 27, 1930 Dumont, Butler, Iowa, 7 children: Verne Ray, Leota F, Albert A, Henry A, Earnest, Leland, Glen).

3. William Walter Ahrens (born January 1, 1861 Butler, Iowa, married Charlotte A Pfaltzgraff June 29, 1893 Dumont, Butler, Iowa, died March 1944 Cedar Falls, Black Hawk, Iowa. 2 sons: Floy C and Clifton William).

4. George J Ahrens (born August 1869 Butler, Iowa, married first to Mary in 1896 (Mary born March 16, 1876, died March 19, 1902 from childbirth complications). Mary and George had 3 children: Franklin, Effie and Victor. George J Ahrens then married an Emma, don't know her surname and don't believe they had any children.)

5. Louisa Ahrens (born October 1871 to unknown birth parents; adopted by Henry and Louisa Ahrens; married Frederick Pfaltzgraff 1893, died June 13, 1900 Dumont, Butler, Iowa. 3 children: Leslie, Victor Paul and Ruth.)

Louisa (Dahl) Ahrens died April 15, 1889 at Dumont, Butler, Iowa and was buried at lot #A44 of the Harlan Cemetery, Pittsford, Butler, IA.
