OBITUARY
Mrs. N, R, Hartsough, wife of Rev. W. D. Hartsough, died at her home in Bristow, Butler Co. Iowa, Feb’y 17th, 1893, aged 44 years, 2 months and 3 days. Her maiden name was Nancy R. Guyer. She was born in Winnebago Co., Ill. Her mother died when she was two years old, and she was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Smith of Fayette Co., Ia., with whom she lived until she was twenty-three years of age, when she was married to W. D. Hartsough, with whom she lived in her home county (Fayette) until he engaged in the ministry, thirteen years ago. Four years of this time they were stationed at Castalia, where they made many and warm friends. The intelligeneu of her death caused universal sorrow from her demise in the prime of life. Mrs. H. was a conscientious and sincere Christian woman, sympathetic by nature and was every ready to minister to the wants of the afflicted. She was an active worker in all branches of church work. The fact that they were stationed from two to four years at each place speaks high of their popularity. The grief stricken husband and daughter surely have the sincere sympathy of their large circle of friends, not only here but wherever their lot has been cast. The funeral occurred at Fayette, last Sunday, at which place, by her own request, she was buried. Rev R. E. Williams officiated. The friends here contributed a beautiful floral wreath as a slight token of their respect for the deceased. A memorial service will be held in the U. B. church at this time, Sunday, March 5th. Thus another has been called from her labors to receive the reward of the faithful. W. K. R. Castalia, Iowa, 2-22-93.
