Robert Oldenburger, age 73, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Hilko and Stina (Behrends) Oldenburger on October 5, 1936, on the family farm near Parkersburg.

He received his education and graduated from the Parkersburg High School in 1954. He continued his education at the Elgin Watchmakers College in Elgin, Illinois. While at college he worked as an orderly at a nearby hospital.

On November 10, 1968, Robert was united in marriage with June Franken in Muskegon, Michigan. The couple made their home in Parkersburg and were later divorced.

Bob worked for the Parkersburg United States Post Office first as a postal clerk and then was a rural letter carrier for 30 years and retired on June 30, 2000. During this time he also worked at the Froemming’s Jewelry Store in downtown Parkersburg for about 20 years.

In Bob’s spare time he enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and watching British comedies and Court TV. He always had an interest in technology, gadgets and computers. Bob’s home was often the central family hub for his family “the brother’s Oldenburger” for everyday coffee and conversation. Bob found something special in every season.
