Theodore D. Cuvelier, 79, of Aplington, Iowa passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

Theodore Dean was born on April 22, 1929, the son of Sam and Doris (Fransham) Cuvelier in Dumont, Iowa.

He graduated from Finchford Community Schools in 1946. Following his education, he entered the US Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. On June 6, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Allen at the United Methodist Church in Glidden, Iowa. The couple farmed in Butler County from 1954 until retiring in 1981, at which time they moved to their acreage in rural Aplington, Iowa. Ted worked for Agriculture Statistics and Farmers Mutual.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Shell Rock and the Janesville I.O.O.F. #585. Ted enjoyed hunting, gardening, and bird watching, but most especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy of Aplington; children, Ted, (Vicky) Cuvelier of Binghamton, New York, Sue (Rick) Kromminga of Shell Rock, Diana Oltmann of Waverly and Tom (Karla) Cuvelier of Shell Rock; his mother, Doris Cuvelier of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, Joicelyn (Robert) Barber of Dumont, Janice (Richard) Pautvein of West Des Moines and Linda (Harlan) Pruin of Clarksville; two brothers, Walter (Marie) Cuvelier of Cedar Falls and James (Marlys) Cuvelier of Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by his father Samuel Cuvelier.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 1:30 pm at the United Methodist Church in Shell Rock.

Burial will follow in the Riverside cemetery in Shell Rock.

Friends may call from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
