Dallas L. Jones, of Parkersburg, Iowa, died on Friday, December 19, 2008 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Dallas Leo was born on September 27, 1924, in rural Parkersburg, Butler County, Iowa, the son of Leo C. and Emma (Cortright) Jones.

Dallas attended school in New Hartford, graduating from the New Hartford High School in 1942. In 1942, Dallas entered the US. Army during WWII. On November 13, 1943, Dallas was united in marriage to Eva DeBuhr at the United Methodist Church in New Hartford. Dallas continued to serve his country in the Army, until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Dallas returned to New Hartford, where he and Eva made their home on the Jones family farm. Dallas farmed from 1946 until he retired in 1986 and the couple continued to live on the farm until moving to their present home in Parkersburg in 1994.

Dallas was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in New Hartford, where Dallas was active in all aspects of the church. He loved to do woodworking, especially restoring old pieces that were in need of repair. He was a member of the Geyer-Bickner American Legion Post #660 of New Hartford, and loved spending time with his family.

Dallas is survived by his wife, Eva of Parkersburg; one daughter, Lynda Figi of Parkersburg, one son, Donald Jones and his wife, Lois of Iowa Falls; seven grandchildren, Lori (Troy) Miller of Arlington, David (Susan) Jones of Iowa Falls, Lisa (Luke) Tibbs of Hampton, Heather (Clint) Mennen of Cedar Falls, Chris (Michelle) Figi of Parkersburg, Yvette Harbour of Parkersburg, Nicole Figi of Parkersburg; thirteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Harriett Laughlin of Des Moines, Patricia Powell of New Hartford.

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Shirley Rewerts.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 10:00 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford, with Pastor Betsy Piette officiating.

Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday at the Parkersburg United Methodist Church in Parkersburg.

Memorials may be directed to the Jones family.

Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home of Waverly is in charge of services.
