Iver Lu Bloomfield, age 93, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born June 10, 1916, the son of Ira Levi and Clara M. (Hersey) Bloomfield at the same home as his current residence. He attended grade school at the Sinclair Schoolhouse and graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1933.

Iver lived his entire life at his current residence, except for the time he served in the armed forces. He enlisted in the United State Army on November 3, 1945 and served during WWII as a Medical Clerk. He was honorably discharged on December 5, 1946.

Iver also worked as a bookkeeper for Heine Implement in Grundy Center both before and after his time in the service. In addition, Iver farmed the family farm east of Parkersburg and was especially proud that it has remained in the family since 1854. Iver served for many years as the Butler County Conservation Director until retiring in 1980.

In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and trout fishing. He made many trips to Minnesota where he had a cabin on Cedar Lake. He was a member of the American Legion Post #285 in Parkersburg and was also a member of the VFW.

Iver died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at his home in Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son; Larry Atteberry; one sister; Naomi Atteberry-Brammer.

Iver is survived by one daughter-in-law; Patricia “Patches” Atteberry of Parkersburg, IA and one nephew; LaVerne (Rebena) Atteberry of Munford, TN.
