SHELL ROCK - Catherine Louise "Tootie" Seal, 73, of Shell Rock, died Tuesday, April 6, at home.

She was born June 24, 1936, in Bremer County, daughter of Harry Earl and Nellie Florence Norris Smith.

Mrs. Seal worked at the Shell Rock Care Center as a nurse's aide for more than 20 years and at the Cooler in Shell Rock. She also volunteered at the Shell Rock Ambulance Service for more than 20 years and the Shell Rock Fire Department for more than 10 years.

Survived by: a daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Homeister of Shell Rock; three grandchildren, Shawn Homeister of Janesville, Damion (Crystal) Homeister of Aplington and Brandi Homeister of Waterloo; four great-grandchildren, Joseph, Haley, Katilyn and Kiley Homeister; and a brother, Richard "Dick" (Oqua) Smith of Shell Rock.

Preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Michael Bahr; a sister, Mickey Jacobs; and two brothers, Merle (Bud) Smith and Pvt. Laverne "Corky" Smith.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Shell Rock United Methodist Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock.

Public visitation today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Shell Rock, with family present from 4 to 8 p.m.

Tootie's greatest enjoyment was her family and adopted family. She was grandma to many.
