Betty Lou Wharton, 52, of Bristow, Iowa, passed away February 5, 2010, at her home in Bristow.

She was born on March 11, 1957, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Milford and Theresa (Olinger) Moore. Betty graduated from Hempsted High School in Dubuque. She was united in marriage to Rick Wharton on July 19, 1975, at St. Mary’s in Dubuque, Iowa. Betty worked alongside her husband for A1 Metro Movers and Atlas Van lines. She was affiliated with the Catholic Church. Betty loved and enjoyed her children and grandchildren dearly, especially going to the numerous events that occurred. She also enjoyed yard work, working with her husband and looked forward to helping a family friend in the fields in the spring and fall.

Betty is survived by her husband Rick Wharton of Bristow, son Rick and wife Julie Wharton of Marble Rock, daughter Joanne and husband Jeremiah Miller of Marble Rock, grandchildren Destiny, Grace and Joshua Wharton and April, Alex and David Miller, parents Milford and Theresa Moore of Dubuque, sister Mary Moore of Mason City, brother Robert Moore of Dubuque, brother-in-law Greg and wife Tina LaRue of Dubuque, sister-in-law Kittie Rodgers of Dubuque and nephew Michael Moore of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her sister Joanie Moore and grandson Derick Wharton.
