SHELL ROCK - Dorothy Mary Nichols, 95, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Shell Rock, died at her home Thursday, Jan. 28.

She was born May 22, 1914, in Shell Rock, daughter of Roy Arthur and Ella May Kublank Williams. In 1933 she married Earl Roy Kratchmer in Morrison, Ill. He died in 1935. In 1966 she married Charles Henry Nichols. He died March 30, 1999.

Mrs. Nichols graduated from Shell Rock High School in 1932. She had worked for the Shell Rock Telephone Co., and later went to work at Carnation, retiring in 1976 with 35 years of service. She was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Waverly, and the Shell Rock United Methodist Church.

Survived by: a daughter, Barbara JoAnn Uhlenhopp (Dick Tesdahl) of Waverly; a son, Ronald Earl Kratchmer (Phyllis Pittman) of Waverly; three stepsons, Kenneth Nichols of Minneapolis, Gene Nichols of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Connie Nichols of Cedar Falls; a stepdaughter-in-law, Liane Nichols of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 26 stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Lenius of Waverly; and a brother, Kenneth Williams of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a stepson, Bud Nichols; three brothers, Estel, Shorty and Clyde Williams; and two sisters, Lucille Bruns and Wreatha Swab.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock. Public visitation from noon until services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to American Heart Association or Episcopal Relief Development (ERD) Fund for Haiti.
