Donovan D. Manifold (1951-2009)
Aplington-Donovan Dean Manifold, 58, of Aplington, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, at home after a long illness.
He was born June 2, 1951, in Charles City, son of Paul Russell and Tena Freerks Manifold. He married Susan Marie Cuvelier on Jan. 24, 1971, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.
He graduated from Aplington High School in 1970 and later attended Hawkeye Community College and received his LPN degree.
He worked for Farmer's Co-op, Rolfe; Farmland Foods, Iowa Falls; Presbyterian Village, Ackley; and later at Country View Nursing home, Waterloo, until becoming disabled.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Matthew (Anne) and John (Sylvia) of Bad Kissingen, Germany; five grandchildren; a brother, Doug of Bristow, six sisters, Donna Voss of Cedar Falls, Sharon Miller, Karen Counts, both of Marshalltown, Pauline (Robert) D'Amore of Kenosha, Wis., and Jeannie (Kart) Weinert and Sandra Edler both of Bradgate; and a sister-in-law, Nola Freerks of Bristow.
Preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Russell, on Jan. 21, 2009; a sister, Cindy Janssen; and a brother, Jim Freerks.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Reformed Church, with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, both of Aplington. Public visitation from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today at Redman-Schwartz Chapel, Aplington, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
Memorials: may be directed to the family.
