Herman Archie Luck, 87, of New Hartford, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, July 20,1987, at the Windsor Care Center in Cedar Falls. Herman was born August 31, 1899 in a log cabin northwest of Beaver Grove, Iowa, the son of Ernest Alonzo and Jessie May Ford Luck. He attended country school through the fourth grade. He was married to Wava Delight Jepperson on November 1, 1924 in Cedar Falls.
The couple made their home in New Hartford and in the fall of 1942 Herman went to work for the Rath Packing Company and they moved to Waterloo for two years before moving back to New Hartford. Herman continued working at Raths until March of 1959, when he suffered a heart attack.He enjoyed fishing, hunting,trapping, and loved to garden.
Herman and Wava became residents of The Windsor Care Center in Cedar Falls on April 27, 1987. Wava died on May 1, 1987 and Herman continued to live at the care center.
He is survived by his children, James Luck of Waterloo, Ia., Mrs. Leslie (Eunice) Christiansen,
LaVern "Jack" Luck and Dale Luck, all of New Hartford, Mrs. Bennie (Verna) Burchard and Mrs. Marvin (Marian) Lindberg both of Cedar Falls, twenty two grandchildren, and twenty six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wava, four brothers, three sisters, and one great grandson in infancy.
Services were from the First Baptist Church in New Hartford July 23, 1987 and burial was in the Beaver Grove cemetery.
