Samuel Lenhart came to Butler county in June 1855 and first settled on the south half of sec. 19, Fremont township, remaining there until 1880, when he purchased 125 acres adjoining the city of Clarksville. Mr. Lenhart has been very successful as a farmer. He owns about eight hundred acres and his improvements are among the best in the county. Mr. Lenhart was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, January 30, 1806. In 1833 he married Miss Margaret McMillan. In 1834 he removed to Ohio, in 1845 to Indiana, and in 1855 to Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Lenhart have had eight children, seven of whom are now living, the youngest having died while on the journey from Indiana to Iowa – John, Henry, Washington, Sarah J., Susan, Almeda and Nancy.
