Jurian Winne is a native of New York, born in Albany county, September 16, 1843. In 1853 his parents moved to Illinois, and settled in Boone county. His younger days were spent in school and on his father’s farm. He made his home in Illinois until 1869, when he came to Butler county, Iowa, and spent the winter in Aplington. In the fall of 1875 he went to Chicago, where he was foreman in the Cottage Grove Avenue Railway stables. He lived there until 1882, when he returned to Washington Township, and built a house on his father’s homestead, on section 3, where he now lives, and has a farm of 240 acres of land.
