O. J. Wheeler was born in Chatauqua county, New York, in July of the year 1845, and is a son of Miles and Fanny (Pitcher) Wheeler, who were also born in New York State. When the son was twelve years old, the family moved west, and lived for one year in Janesville, Bremer county, Iowa, but at the end of that time, they moved to section 2, of Shell Rock township, and settled on a farm entered by the father, October 18, 1851. Mr. Wheeler’s mother died in 1874, and his father followed one year later. He was married in April of the year 1877, to Ida Sewell, and they live on the old homestead.
