Thomas Thompson was born in Ireland, December 7, 1799. He learned the shoemaker’s trade, and married Miss Phoebe Coulson. In 1850 he emigrated to the United States, following his trade in New York city until 1857, when he came to Iowa, and has since been a resident of Butler county. He still resides on the land he entered. His wife died in 1865, leaving seven children, six of whom are now living – Elizabeth, now Mrs. Henry Trotter; Mary Ann, Irvina, now Mrs. James Trotter; William C., Noble A., and George T.
