Mr. Thomas Russell was born in 1799; he married Cynthia Wooster, who survives her husband. Mrs. Russell was born in Pennsylvania. Her parents also belonged to one of the old Connecticut families. Mr. Thomas Russell removed with his family to the State of New York, thence to Illinois, afterward coming to Iowa, as stated above. He purchased the farm where the family still reside, of Franklin Tewskbury. Mr. Russell died in 1870. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Russell had six children – Ellen, Caroline, Nelson, Shelden, George L. and Susan. The homestead farm contains 80 acres.
