We have a German Hymnal from our gggrandfather, Isaiah Mathias which is dated in his handwriting, and also states,"please always keep this in the family, 1776." He brought it over on a ship from Germany. He was our step-grandfather's grandfather and we desperately want to get this priceless heirloom in the correct hands. Isaiah had a daughter in Iowa, named Mary A. Mathias Or Matthias, b1876. Other names in this family were Frederick Matthias 1842-1932 and Mary Severin ca 1849. Since my grandfather, Francis Adam Wagner's mother's maiden name was (Marie) Mathias, it is making this very difficult. My grnadfather Francis Wagner was a member of the Wagner family in Cedar Falls, Iowa which owned the Wagner Mfg. Co.
Any help would be appreciated. Sorry, our info is so scarce.
