Alton Elliott, son of Alexander(Sandy) Bothwell Elliott and Josephine Bogart, was born 7-1879 in Grundy County. He moved to Aplington, IA in 1906 and began barbering. In 1922 he built a new barber shop and in 1925 his oldest son Paul began to barber with him. In 1935 Alton retired because of his failing health. He died in 1943 and is buried at Oakhill Cemetery, New Hartford, IA.
Alton married Myrtle Ethel Whitney, daughter of William Whitney and Millie Freeland. She was born 9-1886 in New Hartford, IA. She died in 1969 and is also buried at Oakhill Cemetery.
Alton and Myrtle had 10 children: Paul C., Lyle B.,Maxine, Lois, June, Alton(Buster), Lynn W., Jean, Audrey, Calvin(Bud).
