[January 1, 1928]* - October 27, 2012

Comfortably surrounded by his family, Bernard McKenna, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 27, 2012, from complications of pneumonia.

A Research Engineer, Bernard received three patents for developments he made in refractories working for Kaiser Aluminum and Refractories in Pleasanton, California. In the 1960s, he volunteered some of his time working for NASA helping to develop an early blast furnace wind tunnel to test atmospheric re-entry for space craft.

An avid white water river rafter, Bernard enjoyed the outdoors. He consistently volunteered with his church and with St. Vincent de Paul.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen, and his six children, Michael, David, Colleen, Mark, Paul, and Gregory.
