She grew up on farms in northwest Iowa with her parents and older brother and sister. Marjorie received her education in Fairview, Marathon, and Sulphur Springs, graduating from the Sulphur Spring High School with the Class of 1938.

On October 20, 1972, Marjorie was united in marriage to Richard Lambert at the St. John’s United Church of Christ of rural Newell. Up until one month before her death, she spent the rest of her life on the family farm, sharing it, after her mother’s death, with her second husband, Richard. Marjorie will be remembered for her faithfulness to the land she loved and to her commitment and belief in responsible farming. May others follow her example.
