Bernice M. Lindquist - Nov. 10, 1917 - May 12, 2007

Bernice M. Lindquist, age 89, of Albert City, Iowa, died on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Bernice M. Peterson, the daughter of A.E. and Selma (Fagerlund) Peterson, was born near Albert City on November 10, 1917. Bernice lived her youth and received her education at Albert City, graduating from the Albert City High School in 1935. She continued her education at Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines, Iowa, pursuing a career in accounting.

Bernice was united in marriage to Alvin Lindquist on July 21, 1944, at Gulfport, Mississippi. This union was blessed with two sons: Clyde and Craig. Counting their years of dating, their engagement, and their married life, this couple cherished 70 years together. Following Alvin’s honorable discharge from the United States Navy, Alvin and Bernice began farming east of Albert City. They resided on their farm for over 40 years before moving into Albert City in 1978.

Bernice was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church of Albert City and had been active in the Ladies Aid. She also enjoyed gardening and playing the organ. She and Alvin were members of several card clubs, both while living on the farm and after moving into town.

Those who will always love and celebrate her memory include her husband of 62 years, Alvin, of Albert City; her son and his companion, Dr. Craig Lindquist, M.D. and Linda Knight of San Francisco, California; her daughter-in-law, Anita Lindquist of Fort Dodge, Iowa; her granddaughter, Britta K. Lindquist of Rock Island, Illinois; her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Darlene Peterson of Albert City; her sister-in-law, Carol Peterson of Albert City; other relatives and a host of friends.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Dr. Clyde Lindquist, in 1988; one brother, Morris Peterson; and her sister, Gladys Anderson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lindquist will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Albert City with Reverend David Bernhardt officiating. Burial will follow in Fairfield Township Cemetery at Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
