Betty Ann Blomberg - Feb. 5, 1931 - Mar. 27, 2006

Betty Ann Blomberg, age 75, of Albert City, Iowa, died Monday, March 27, 2006, at Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Betty Ann Goedert was born February 5, 1931, to Leo and Josephine (Pille) Goedert in Maple River, Iowa. She was baptized into the Catholic faith while the family still lived in Maple River. They later moved to a farm outside of Varina, Iowa, and Betty attended grade school at St. Columbkille Catholic School, then graduated from Varina Public High School.

On April 19, 1952, Betty was united in marriage to Richard Blomberg in Fort Bliss, Texas. The couple spent the first two years of their marriage at Fort Lewis, Washington. They were blessed with ten children: Dick, Susan, Teresa, Mark, Dan, Dave, Michelle, Bruce, Bryan and Bob.

Betty and Rich were happily married for 54 years and shared many happy memories together of family times with their ten children, nine sons- and daughters-in-law and thirty grandchildren. Betty was a loving wife and devoted mother who took great care in making a warm and comfortable home for her family. She and Rich were co-founders of their business enterprise, Be-Rich, Inc.

Betty’s strong Catholic faith coupled with her natural energy helped her to meet the challenges of raising and nurturing her large family. She enjoyed knitting, playing cards, gardening, golfing, camping, fishing and dancing. She loved to visit with family and friends. Her smile and gentle, caring presence will be missed deeply by all those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard Blomberg of Albert City; children: Dick and wife Kim Blomberg of Chaska, Minnesota; Susan and husband Paul Weber of Omaha, Nebraska; Teresa and husband Dan Curoe of Abilene, Kansas; Mark and wife Carol Blomberg of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Dan and wife Linda Blomberg of Chandler, Arizona; Dave and wife Christine Blomberg of Indiahoma, Oklahoma; Michelle Blomberg of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; Bruce and wife Kristi Blomberg of Des Moines, Iowa; Bryan and wife Kendra Blomberg of Newhall, Iowa; and Bob and wife Jennifer Blomberg of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; grandchildren: April, Ryan, Kelsey, Julianne, Caroline, Nicole, Bradley, Sierra, Joey, Jenny, John, Tom, Bryce, Brett, Chris, Katie, Zach, Kristin, Brad, Ryan, Lauren, Austin, Isabella, Alexandra, Kierstin, Megan, Sadie, and Benjamin; brother Leo “Bud” and wife Harriet Goedert of Varina, Iowa; sister Pearl Herbaugh of Tucson, Arizona; brother-in-law Andy and wife Bonnie Blomberg; sisters-in-law Ingeborg Blomberg, Vivian and husband “Willie” Wilbur; Deloris “Dee” Blomberg; Muriel Blomberg; and Phyllis Blomberg; extended family and a host of friends.
