Joyce Arlene Dumkrieger, age 97, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at the Brookdale of Chestnut Hill Nursing Home in Westerville, Ohio.

Joyce was born to Charles and Blanche (Zupp) Small on August 9,1921, at home in Washta, Iowa. Baptized, confirmed, and married in the United Methodist Church, she attended school in Washta, Iowa, graduating in 1938. After attending Buena Vista College, she worked at banks in Washta, Sac City, and Storm Lake. In due course, she met a handsome young man who worked at the bank across the street. On October 24,1954, she married that handsome young man, John Dumkrieger. John and Joyce were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Stacy and Stephanie, and sixty years of marriage.

Joyce enjoyed volunteering at church and with the hospital auxiliary. Most of all, however, she adored her girls, her two granddaughters, Kelsey and Meredith, and her pets. In addition, she had a great love for all of her extended family, most especially for her nieces and nephews.

Those left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Stephanie Politte, and her husband, Jeff; her granddaughters, Kelsey and Meredith Politte; and her sister-in-law, Delores Raveling; as well as many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, John; and her daughter, Stacy; as well as by her parents; brothers; sister; nieces; and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to The Joyce Dumkrieger Memorial, c/o Security Trust & Savings Bank, 601 Lake Avenue, Storm Lake, Iowa 50588. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
