Louise "Jane" Benberg, age 91, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Jane, a daughter of George and Emily (Godden) Andrews, was born on a farm near Storm Lake, Iowa, on April 29, 1926. She lived her youth on the farm and attended school in Truesdale.

On March 12, 1952, Jane married Lloyd W. Benberg at the parsonage of the Grace United Methodist Church at Spencer, Iowa. To their union one daughter, Cathleen, was born. Jane and Lloyd farmed north of Storm Lake from 1952 until they retired in 1984. In 1996, they moved into Storm Lake. Jane enjoyed living on the farm and helping Lloyd with field work, especially at harvest time.

A member of the Bethel Baptist Church at Newell, Iowa, Jane enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing on rainy days, and fishing for bullheads with Lloyd and Cathleen. For the past ten years, Jane and Cathleen enjoyed visiting with new friends at Sparky’s 3 & 71 Truck Stop. She loved taking joyrides through the countryside, usually including a stop in a park for a thermos of coffee and cookies. Phone calls and visits from family and friends became the highlights of her days.

Jane’s life and memory will always be loved and cherished by her daughter and son-in-law: Cathleen Benberg and Steve Boint, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; her brothers-in-law, Edwin Benberg, of Portland, Oregon, and Tom Benberg, of Atlanta, Georgia; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Lentz, of Columbus, Ohio; as well as by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly; not to mention many friends and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Lloyd, on April 11, 2008; her parents; and brother, Richard Andrews, in 2009.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place during the hour before the service at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
