Lawrence David Jaggie, a son of Edward Walter and Colleen (Hancock) Jaggie, was born on December 27, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri. He spent his childhood years in St. Louis where he received his education.

In 1975, he moved to Iowa looking for work. There, he met Rhonda Bjorklund whom he married on May 21, 1978. Soon afterwards, they welcomed two daughters, Amy, in 1980, and Melissa, in 1982. Larry drove truck for many years. He later owned Mr. Muffler and Towing in Storm Lake before going back to what he truly enjoyed, driving truck.

On September 28, 1984, Larry married Judi Holmstrom at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Cherokee and then moved to Storm Lake for several years before moving back to Cherokee. In his free time, Larry enjoyed painting ceramics, feeding the birds, and going to the casinos. In addition, he liked all animals, especially his dog Cocoa. Most of all, however, Larry loved the companionship of his family and friends.
