Lun Thi Thong, age 85, of Lakeside, Iowa, died on Friday, December 29, 2017, in Lakeside.

Lun Thi Thong, a daughter of Cheua Thongthi and Phouan Thongvan, was born on September 10, 1932, in Sonla, Vietnam. She grew up in Vietnam, and married Sau Van Thong. In time, they were blessed with nine children: Vieng, Dawn, Suzzan, Thou, Xuyen, Hup, Seng, Heui, and John. In 1975, the family moved to the United States. After living in Sac City and Spencer, they, eventually, settled in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Lun had a talent and passion for sewing. Indeed, she loved creating many traditional blankets for family members. In addition, she liked to watch both American and Thai soap operas. Most of all, however, Lun loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Without question, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Vieng Thong, of Plymouth, Minnesota, Dawn (Vic) James, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Suzzan (Boun) Khounlo, of Lakeside, Iowa, Xuyen (Dave) Johnson, of Andover, Minnesota, Hup (Tran) Thong, of Jordan, Minnesota, Seng (Jody) Thong, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Heui (Dave) Parsons, of Hanover, Minnesota, and John Thong, of Omaha, Nebraska; twenty-two grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; a brother, Kia Thong, of Vietnam; and a sister, La Quang, of Des Moines, Iowa; as well as extended family members and friends. Lun was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sau Van Thong; a son, Thou Van Thong; and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, January 5, 2018, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
