Rollie W. Kruse
August 17, 1926 - November 25, 2017

Rollie William Kruse, age 91, of Albert City, Iowa, died on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

Rollie was born on August 17, 1926, to Fred H. and Hattie (Brummer) Kruse on a farm near Albert City, Iowa. He had one brother and three sisters: Roger, Geneva, Jeanette, and Verna. Baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church near Newell, he remained a member until the church closed. He had served as church president, trustee, and for many years, as treasurer of the cemetery board. He received his education at Lincoln Number 7 in Buena Vista County. He began by farming for his father for seven years before taking over the family farm where he remained until he retired in 2006.

On June 22, 1947, Rollie married Ardyce Johnson. Their children are Marcia Kay, Glen Lloyd and Gary Lee. He and Ardyce traveled from Washington DC to Seattle, Washington. Rollie enjoyed his family, farming, hunting, and fishing. He loved listening to music and dancing.

A lifelong member of the Buena Vista County Farm Bureau, he, also, served on the Buena Vista County Zoning Board and served as a leader of the Albert City Boy Scouts.

Rollie was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law; his sisters, Geneva Betz and Verna Olson; his brothers-in-law: Phil Betz, Kenneth Boese, John Johnson, Roger Olson, Dee Owens, and Don Sanderson; and his sisters-in-law: Leah Sanderson, Margaret Owens, and Ann Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ardyce Kruse; his children: Marcia Kay Timm, Glen (Pat) Kruse, and Gary Kruse; his grandchildren: Andrea (Gayland) Garber; Nicole (Tim) Grace; Allison, Derek, Justin (Jodee), and Kevin Kruse; and Chad (Sonja), Jeremy, and Stephanie Timm (Paul Stetler); his great grandchildren: Aubrie Grace; Kami and Karli Kruse; Nia McClary; Hayes and Sylvie Stetler; and Tyler and Gabriel Timm; his sister, Jeanette Boese; and his brother, Roger (Jane) Kruse; as well as extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place Tuesday, November 28, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
