January 27, 1939 - July 31, 2017

Mrs. Marian (Wayne) Kruse, age 78, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on July 31, 2017, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Marian Bolte, a daughter of Fritz and Lena (Brummer) Bolte, was born on January 27, 1939, in Strom Lake, Iowa. Baptized at home by Reverend G. Thor Haller on May 7, 1939, and later confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Church on June 8, 1952, by Reverend Walter Keiker, she attended school at Lincoln Township #7 and later at Truesdale Consolidated, graduating from high school on May 16, 1956. On April 9, 1967, Marian married Wayne Kruse at St. John’s United Church of Christ. Subsequently, they were blessed with one son, Kevin.

A devoted farm wife, Marian was, always, willing to help Wayne and Kevin with all the chores. Moreover, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, canning, and especially gardening. A member of Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, she served as a Sunday school trustee. In addition, she worked at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake for eight years.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Wayne Kruse, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her son, Kevin Kruse, of Storm Lake, Iowa (special friend, Val Ludwig of Fort Dodge, Iowa); her grandson, Keegan Kruse, of Storm Lake, Iowa; three step grandchildren: Josh, Jeremy, and Jennifer; her brother, Henry (Marilyn) Bolte; and her sister, LeAnna Bolte; as well as extended family members and friends.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy; her brother, Ervin; and her daughter-in-law, Teresa Kruse.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 4, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday, August 3, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Marian's name. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
