Doris M. Clough, age 98, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on December 24, 2016, at the North Lake Manor in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Doris Marion Mudge, a daughter of Ray and May (Redenbaugh) Mudge, was born on December 18, 1918, in Storm Lake. Shortly after graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1936, she worked as a dental assistant at Dr. Whiteside’s dental practice until she met her future husband, Erwin. At that time, she began working at Clough Auto Parts. On April 18, 1940, Doris married Erwin Dexter Clough in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with one child, Susan May. Throughout her adult life, Doris continued to work at the family business part-time before retiring in 1970. In addition, she, very much, enjoyed her role as mother, wife, and homemaker, taking special pride in the lakefront home she and Erwin had designed. Overall, she and Erwin had fifty-nine wonderful years together before his passing.

A member of the Church of Christ in Storm Lake before it closed and a seventy-three-year member of the Eastern Star, she, also, actively participated in various other community groups including the DAV Auxiliary, the Serpaci Car Club, the Storm Lake Area Rockhounds, and the Buena Vista Historical Society. Moreover, she enjoyed sculpting clay, making shell jewelry, and sharing her husband’s passion for rocks and minerals. She and Erwin would travel all over collecting specimens and going to gem and mineral shows. Erwin would cut and polish the rocks, and Doris would help design the jewelry, clocks, spheres, and other treasures. In addition to their home in Storm Lake, they had a second home in Arizona where they would go for the winter months.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Susan (Troy) Briggs, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Jennifer Newton, Amy Glassford, and Melissa (Joe) Keller, all of Storm Lake, Iowa; her great grandchildren: Dylan and Zachary Glassford, Emily and Nicole Rake, Lucas and Meggie Keller; and her brother-in-law, Robert Rehnstrom, of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as extended family members and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin; and her sisters, Pauline Douglass and Lois May Rehnstrom.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will take place Wednesday, December 28, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
