July 22, 1928 - August 29, 2016Marvel A. Frederick, age 88, of Spencer, Iowa, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Monday, August 29, 2016, at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer.
Marvel Richardson, a daughter of Morgan and Alta (Larson) Richardson, was born in Alta, Iowa, on July 22, 1928. She lived her youth and received her education in the Linn Grove and Sioux Rapids communities. As a girl, she enjoyed riding the train from Linn Grove to Peterson, Iowa. She was confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove. On August 18, 1946, she married Harold Frederick in Truesdale, Iowa. They were blessed with three sons: Harold, Terry, and Dennis.
Marvel is survived by her three sons: Harold (Bernadine) Frederick, of Branson, Missouri, Terry Frederick, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Dennis (Jane) Frederick, of Storm Lake, Iowa; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; fifteen great-great grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Beverly) Richardson, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; and a sister, Helen Freeman, of Apopka, Florida; as well as by other extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her sisters, Ivy Felton and Hazel Freeman; her brother- and sister-in-law, Lyle and Erma Frederick; and two great grandchildren: Hannah and Aiden Kruse.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
