Siebens, Walter Carter 1881-1940

Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Thu, Jan 18, 1940 - Services for Walter C Siebens of St Louis and prominent in Storm Lake mercantile affairs, are being held this Thursday afternoon at the Mack funeral home. Mr Siebens passed away suddenly Monday night at the home of his mother, Mrs George Siebens, 5th and Cayuga street, following a short illness of lobar pneumonia.

Mr and Mrs Siebens had come from St Louis Dec 22 to spend the holidays in Storm Lake. He became ill on New Years day and had been confined since, although he was believed to be improving. Interment will be in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Walter Carter Siebens was born in Pekin, IL Aug 14, 1881. At the age of two years he came with is parents to Storm Lake which has been the family home continuously except for a few years spent in Sioux City.

Walter attended the Storm Lake schools and graduated from Buena Vista college in 1899. In 1904 he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Dusenberry. One son, Harold, was born to them in 1905.

Mr and Mrs Siebens and son moved to St Louis, MO in 1905 where Mr Siebens founded the Eastern American Merchandise company. They have since made their home there.

He leaves to mourn his widow and son, Harold; his mother, Mrs George Siebens; one sister, Mrs Ella Hoch of Sibley; and three grandchildren.

His father, George Siebens, preceded him in death August of last year.
