Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Jan 5, 1939 - Rembrandt - The usual holiday gaiety gave way to deep sorrow in the Rembrandt community because of the death of Mrs Edwin Nielsen. She passed away Friday evening in a hospital at Creston where the young couple had established a comfortable home.

Venetta was an unusually sweet spirited person. It seems such a few short months have elapsed since her graduation with the 1937 class of the Rembrandt high school and her marriage three months later when she became the happy bride of a fine young man with bright prospects for a happy future and now at the youthful age of 19 years she was called upon to sacrifice her life in giving birth to her first child, a still born baby girl.

The remains were taken Sunday to the Hughes funeral home in Storm Lake and were brought to the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs John Junkermeier Tuesday morning.

Funeral services conducted by Rev Lerud, who also officiated at her marriage, were held at the Rembrandt Lutheran church. Interment was in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Mrs Venetta Junkermeier Nielsen was born near Rembrandt, Oct 18, 1919. After her graduation from the Rembrandt consolidated school she was engaged for a while as telephone operator at the local office.

On Aug 23, 1937 she was united in marriage to Mr Edwin Nielsen. They made their home at Creston. The deceased enjoyed good health until her last illness. She was taken ill Thursday Dec 29. Medical aid was summoned and she was removed to the hospital. A child was born. Unable to survive the ordeal, she passed away Friday Dec 30.

To mourn her untimely death she leaves her husband; her parents, Mr and Mrs John Junkermeier; four sisters: Mrs Victor Hertig, Emmetsburg; Mrs Alfred Schadendorf, Ledyard; Evelyn of Chicago; Dorothy of Rembrandt; and three brothers: John, Louis, and Alfred all of Rembrandt.
