Patricia Jean Mittelstadt
April 24, 1927 - May 6, 2016Patricia Jean Mittelstadt, age 89, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, May 6, 2016, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Patricia Holmes, a daughter of Forrest and Daisy (McLaren) Holmes, was born on April 24, 1927, in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Growing up, she attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from the Storm Lake High School with the class of 1945.
On August 2, 1948, Pat married James Mittelstadt at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with three children, Mark, Jeff, and Lori.
A member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake and a longtime member of P.E.O., Pat played in several bridge clubs as well.
Pat and Jim enjoyed spending their winters in Monterey Bay, California. Moreover, they made yearly trips with dear friends to Door County, Wisconsin. Then, for their 50th Wedding Anniversary, they took a trip to Europe, a gift from their children. Of all her activities, however, Pat cherished her coffee group of over 50 years the most. Nonetheless, she valued her family, and she treasured spending every possible moment with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jim Mittelstadt, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Mark (Dawn) Mittelstadt, of Lake City, Iowa, Jeff (Barbara) Mittelstadt, of Marcus, Iowa, and Lori Calnon, of Carmel, California; her grandchildren: Michael (Amy) Mittelstadt, of Altoona, Iowa, Jena (Neal) Bunt, of Kearney, Nebraska, and Chad Calnon, of Carmel, California; and her sister, Jane Over, of San Diego, California; as well as extended family members and many friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Daisy Holmes.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation will take place Monday, May 9, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
