Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - February 12, 1931 - George Egerer, a resident of this community since 1875 with the exception of a few years spent in South Dakota.

Mr Egerer had been in failing health for about 5 years and recently his condition had been serious. A week prior to his death, he was taken to the home of his daughter Mrs Ruth M Conrad a nurse, where he was tenderly cared for by his wife and daughters, Mrs Conrad, Miss Elsie Egerer and Miss Eunice Egerer, the later a trained nurse from Sioux City until his death. He was 74 years old.

George Egerer as born at Hamilton, OH Feb 2, 1857 and was a son of Mr and Mrs Adam Egerer. At the age of four years he moved to his parents to North Freedom, WI where he grew to manhood and received his education.

He came to Storm Lake when he was 19 years old and located on a farm south of here. On Feb 16, 1882 he was united in marriage to Miss Alice M Sanborn of Storm Lake.

Mr and Mrs Egerer lived in Hayes township for 5 years after their marriage and later lived in the E.C. Cowles farm now the H Geisinger property north of the city for about 7 years. They also lived west of Storm Lake and later near Truesdale.

In 1920 they moved to South Dakota where the farmed until 2 years ago, when they returned to Storm Lake where they have since lived and where he was well known and held in high regard.

To this union 7 children were born, two daughters, Ella B and Daisy, and a son, George Henry preceding him in death in infancy. The other are Mrs Ruth M Conrad of Storm Lake; Elsie M Egerer of Storm Lake; Eunice C Egerer of Sioux City; and Roland A Egerer of Seattle, WA.

Besides his wife and four children, he leaves to mourn one brother, Conrad Egerer of North Freedom, WI; two sisters: Mrs May Grubb of Baraboo, WI, and Mrs Emma Messenger residing in CA; three grandchildren: Raymond L Conrad of Storm Lake and Donald and Alice Egerer of Seattle, WA and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be Friday afternoon. Burial will be in the local cemetery.
