September 10, 1951 - March 15, 2016Pat Fisher, age 64, of Lakeside, Iowa, died on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Patricia Helen Fisher, a daughter of Donald and Virginia (Burkhart) Hussey, was born on September 10, 1951, in Cherokee, Iowa.
Pat attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1969. Then, she continued her education at William Penn College where she graduated in 1973 with a degree in sociology.
On October 29, 1972, Pat married Dennis Fisher in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with four children, Brian, Mathew, Gregory, and Melanie.
A member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Pat had a passion like none other for getting involved with youth programs and the Storm Lake community as well. She joined the Field of Dreams Board, the Storm Lake School District Foundation, the Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs, and Project Engage as well as the youth softball, baseball, and bowling boards. As the Community Education Director for the Storm Lake School District, she influenced the lives of many.
A sports fanatic, Pat enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and, especially, all the Storm Lake sports teams including her kids playing co-ed softball. Moreover, throughout her involvement, she, always, managed to put her family first. She loved to attend her grandchildren’s activities, take family vacations, and spend time on the lake. In addition, she liked playing cards with the members of her card club and going on luncheon dates with close friends.
Pat will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, mentor, and role model to many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Dennis Fisher, of Lakeside, Iowa; her children: Brian Fisher, of Urbandale, Iowa, Mathew (Amanda) Fisher, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Melanie Fisher, also of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren, Tay and Jenna Fisher, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her mother-in-law, Gerry Fisher, of Oskaloosa, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Donna Hussey, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and her children, Kris (Matt), Kim (Jason), and Steve (Amber); her brother-in-law, Lee (Becky) Fisher, of Fort Knox, Kentucky, and their children, Michael (Sarah), Laura (Alex), and Kaleb; and her sister-in-law, Barb Marshall, of Columbia, Missouri, and her children, Geri (Ron), Sarah (Eric), and Jeremy; as well as extended family members and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; Donald and Virginia Hussey; her son, Gregory Fisher; her brother, Richard Hussey, and her father-in-law, George Fisher.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, March 18, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Storm Lake Foundation Project Engage. At visitation, guests are welcome to wear their "Team Fisher" shirts or white and green. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
