February 9, 1908 - March 20, 1994

Ruben T. Anderson, 86, of Albert City, died on March 20, 1994, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City.

Ruben was born to Gust and Christine Anderson on February 9, 1908, at their home near Albert City. Baptized and confirmed at the Mission Covenant Church in Albert City, he attended country school near Albert City and auto mechanics school in Kansas City. He returned to the Albert City area to work until the late 1920s when he moved to Chicago to become a journeyman sheet metal worker.

On December 24, 1935, Ruben married Helga Marie Dahlstrom. They were blessed with two sons, Calvin, an attorney in Decorah, and Stanley, who passed away in 1971.

Ruben and Helga made their home in Chicago for several years. During the war years, however, they lived in Terre Haute, Indiana; Pasco, Washington; and St. Paul, Minnesota, as Ruben was employed in defense work. In 1986, Ruben and Helga moved to the family farm east of Albert City. At that time, Ruben joined Our Savior's Lutheran Church where he remained a member until his death. Very skilled in mechanics, he built several labor saving devices he used in farming. Ruben and Helga enjoyed many years of travel in their motor home and spent several winters in Phoenix, Arizona.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Helga; his son, Stanley; three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include his son, Calvin; his daughter-in-law, Betty; two grandchildren, Jennifer and John; and a sister, Mabel Troutfetter, of Phoenix, Arizona, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Anderson were held March 23, 1994, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Reverend Marvin Robeck officiated with burial in the Fairfield Township Cemetery, Albert City. Pallbearers were Darryl Benna, Ken Kroska, Dale Skog, Arnold Dahlstrom, Jim Roberts, and Tom Wessman. Honorary pallbearers were Andy Anderson, Vern Benna, George Roberts, Ossie Anderson, Elwood Lampe, and Virgil Wenell.

The Sliefert Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
