Judy Ann Ripke
July 1, 1942 - November 10, 2015

Judy A. Ripke, age 73, of Rembrandt, Iowa, died on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa.

Judith Ann Owings, a daughter of Melville and Anna (Goslin) Owings, was born on July 1, 1942, in Holstein, Iowa. During her youth, her family moved to the Storm Lake area. She attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1960. Then, she continued her education at Buena Vista College.

On August 5, 1961, Judy married Melvin Ripke at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. Subsequently, they were blessed with three children: Randy, Michelle, and Melanie. As her children grew, she stayed home to raise them and help on the farm. She, also, worked as a secretary at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community for many years. A member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, she joined the church circle and the quilting group.

Enthusiastic about crafting and painting, Judy went to many craft fairs to share her talents with family, friends, and the community. Always willing to help others, she would put their needs before her own. As her grandchildren’s number one fan, she, always, attended their games and events to show her support. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of fifty-four years, Melvin Ripke, of Rembrandt, Iowa; her children: Randy (Beth) Ripke, of Rembrandt, Iowa, and Michelle (Shawn) Huff, of Lago Vista, Texas; her grandchildren: Michael, Bradley (Brandy), and Christopher Ripke; and Tyler and Jasmine Huff; her brother, Bill (Beverly) Owings, of Sun City, Arizona; and her nieces and nephews: Brenda (Mick) Koeppe, Brian (Sandy) Martin, Jeff (Iris) Owings, and Tami (Mark) Mepham; as well as extended family members and friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Ray and Marie Ripke; an infant daughter, Melanie; her grandson, Matthew Purvis; and step-granddaughter, Cassandra Huff.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Friday, November 13, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
