Peung Van Lo
April 16, 1931 - September 1, 2015Peung Van Lo, age 84, of Storm Lake, died on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Peung Van Lo, a son of Chia Lo Van and Bong Lothi, was born on April 16, 1931, in Fieng Chieng, Sonla, Vietnam. He attended school in Fieng Chieng.
In 1949, Peung entered the French Military. He served during the Battle of Dien Bien Phu and was discharged in 1955. That same year, He married Nho Bacthi Lo in Vientiane, Laos. Subsequently, they were blessed with nine children: Rieng Lo, Hak Lo, Nicolas (Hiene) LoVan, Noy Lo, Pha Lo, Kit Lo, Phunh Soto, Tay Lo, and Dana Lo Broussard.
Peung was a proud member of the Taidam community and Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake.
He enjoyed spending time outside, enjoying nature, tending his garden, and caring for his home. Most of all, however, he loved taking care of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nho Bacthi Lo, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children: Rieng Lo, Hak (Toui) Lo, and Nicolas (Daravanh) Lo Van, all of Storm Lake, Iowa; Noy (Naliphone) Lo, Pha (Thene) Lo, and Kit (Chanthachone) Lo, all of Des Moines, Iowa; Phunh (Julio) Soto, of McKinney, Texas; Tay (Phon) Lo, of Spencer, Iowa; and Dana (West) Broussard, of Port Arthur, Texas; twenty-one grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one brother; two sisters; and a sister-in-law, Hauy Lothi, of Sonla, Vietnam.
Peung was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ae Lothi and Yom Lothi; his daughter, Tam Lothi; and his son, Cheuan LoVan.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 5, 2015, at 3:30 p.m. at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
