Arnold Williams
November 23, 1925 - May 10, 2015

Arnold R. Williams, age 89, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Arnold Raymond Williams, a son of Oscar and Anne (Axdalh) Williams, was born on November 23, 1925, in Primghar, Iowa. Growing up, he attended school in Newell, graduating in 1943.

On June 24, 1950, Arnold married Frances Miller in Pocahontas, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with three sons: Steven, Mark, and David. Frances passed away on March 30, 1970.

On January 8, 1972, Arnold married Catherine Mernin. Family and friends enjoyed celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. She passed away on April 24, 1997.

Arnold lived for attending family occasions and was loved by all the lives he touched. A lifelong farmer, he, always, looked forward to spring calving season and planting a new crop. Active in agricultural organizations, he served as executor of the Allee Estate and helped establish the ISU Allee Research Farm. In retirement, he restored buggies, completing nearly thirty of them. He spent his last years enjoying various activities with his special companion, Mary Becker. Arnold will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Steven (Carol), Mark (Deb), and David (Norma) Williams, all of Storm Lake, Iowa; his special companion, Mary Becker, of Lake View, Iowa; his stepchildren: Francis (Marsha) Mernin, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jean Rollinger, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Barb (Ralph) Greder, of Lake View, Iowa, and Gwen (Brian) Groves, of Republic, Missouri; his grandchildren: Brenda (Kyle) Klein, of Carroll, Iowa, Brian (Tatum) Williams, of LeMars, Iowa, Christi Williams, of Brookings, South Dakota, Simon (Rachel) Williams, of Carroll, Iowa, Sydni (Chuck) Williams-Shaw, of Denver, Colorado, Tyson (Chelsee) Williams, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Neil (Jen) Pfeiffer, of Overland Park, Kansas, and Katie (Mike) Dunkin, of West Des Moines, Iowa; his step-grandchildren: Julie (Tim) Hendra, of La Habra, California, Mike (Maria), of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Peter Rollinger, of Mapleton, Minnesota, Michelle (Kurt) Johnson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Staci Kniffen, of Orange City, Iowa, Chris Beach, of Republic, Missouri, and Josh Beach, of Sioux City, Iowa; his great grandchildren: Blakely Dunkin; TJ and Tristen Johnson; Alexandria and Aiden Klein; Logan Greder and Whitney Kniffen; Jeffrey Mernin; Audrey and Grant Pfeiffer; and Addison, Beckam, Brady, and Erica Williams; and his sister, Phyllis (Bob) Watters, of Seattle, Washington; as well as extended family members and many friends.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Anne Williams; his wives: Frances and Catherine Williams; and his granddaughter, Holli Williams.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
