Dorothy L. Miller, age 91, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at her home in Storm Lake.

Dorothy Lillian Ford, a daughter of Victor and Noelie (Battard) Ford, was born on November 14, 1923, in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she attended school and graduated. On July 15, 1946, she married Charles L. Miller in New Orleans. Subsequently, they were blessed with five children: Virgil, Carolyn “Kay”, Tom, Rick, and Doug.

An active member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake for many years, Dorothy treasured her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and always looked forward to holiday gatherings. She, also, enjoyed making trips to the casino, and she liked to watch the Hawkeyes and Cyclones on television. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will, indeed, be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Doug (Tracy) Miller, of Newell, Iowa, Virgil (Phyllis), Tom (Nancy), and Rick (Deb) Miller, all of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Kay (Gary) Oehler, of Lakeside, Iowa; her grandchildren: Jennifer (Brent) Jones; Alexis, Amanda, Brian (Carrie), Chris (Connie), Gregory, Melissa (Jason Nagle), Mike (Brooke), Samantha, T.J. (Nicole McKay), and Tony Miller; Pam (Antonio) and Richard (Martha) O’Brien; Gavin, Tammy (Eric Scott), and Terry (Zouska) Oehler; Sheri (Brandon) Ripke; and Tammy (Kevin) Turner; her great grandchildren: Kennady, Maddison, and Whitney Cooper; Shelby and Sheyanne Hill; Dallas, Jordan, and Kaitlyn Jones; Alexis Jayde, Jadon, Jaclyn, and Michael John Miller and Cohen Hohbach; Teia, Teondra, Trenton, and Trey O’Brien; Dominique, Emma, Hunter, Jonathon, and Kaylie Oehler; Taylor, Mady, and Jaxon Ripke; and Trace and Trevor Turner; her great-great grandchildren, Madeline Jones and Noellie O’Brien; and her sister, Helen Ford, of New Orleans, Louisiana; as well as extended family members and many friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her brothers, Eugene “Whitey” and Lloyd “Bingo”; and her sister, Joyce Patterson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Friday, March 27, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
