Vivian Harrington
November 15, 1929 - February 5, 2015

Vivian Harrington, age 85, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Otsego Place in Storm Lake.

Vivian Harriet Andersen, a daughter of Andrew Pete and Gerda (Jensen) Andersen, was born on November 15, 1929, in Wakefield, Nebraska. Growing up, she attended school in Laurel, Iowa, graduating from Laurel High School in 1947.

On June 18, 1950, Vivian married Ralph Sidney “Sid” Harrington. Subsequently, they were blessed with three children: Rick, Randy, and Rhonda.

In 1963, the family moved to Independence, Iowa. In 1985, however, they made their home in Storm Lake, Iowa, where they owned and operated the Storm Lake Bowl.

Vivian was a faithful member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake.

In her spare time, Vivian loved to bowl, sew, crochet, and spend time in her garden. She, truly, enjoyed keeping house as well as visiting with friends. Most of all, however, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. In their younger years, Vivian and Sid enjoyed playing cards and going dancing Saturday nights with friends.

Vivian will be remembered as the greatest mother in the world. Always willing to lend her children her moral support, she will truly be missed. Touching the lives of all the people she met, she would invariably bring a smile to their faces. She had the patience and kindness of an angel and God’s grace of forgiveness. She was truly loved.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Rick (Natalia) Harrington, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Randy Harrington, of Ventura, California, and Rhonda (Paul) Lussman, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Ryann (Chris) Bustos, of Ventura, California, Rylee Harrington, of Winthrop, Iowa, and Alex and Michail Markov, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and her sister, Shirley Oehlerking, of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; as well as extended family members and friends.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sid, in 2006; her granddaughter, Katelyn “Katie” Duff; and her sister, Rubye Wiig.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Storm Lake Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the beginning of the service at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
