December 5, 1935 - February 15, 2015Jane E. Duffy, age 79, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on February 15, 2015, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Jane Eugenia Sorenson, a daughter of Jess and Pauline (Thorpe) Sorenson, was born on December 5, 1935, in Cherokee, Iowa. Baptized at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake, she remained a lifelong member.
Growing up, she attended school in Storm Lake, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1955. Then, she went to Denver, Colorado, to earn an LPN certificate.
In September of 1959, Jane married Joseph Kuzniar in Denver, Colorado. Subsequently, they were blessed with three children, Vicki, Christina, and Becky. While raising their family in Storm Lake, Jane worked as a homemaker and as an LPN.
In June of 1981, Jane married Francis Duffy in Storm Lake. Together, they ran Jane’s Antiques in Storm Lake. She, later, worked for Buena Vista University in the food service. She loved her job and enjoyed spending time with the students at the University.
In her spare time, Jane enjoyed shopping and watching movies. She valued her family and treasured the time she was able to spend with them, especially with her grandchildren at the holidays.
Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Pauline Sorenson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her children: Vicki (Steve) Emch, of Denver, Colorado, Christina (Tim) Stiles, of Hiawatha, Iowa, and Becky (Chuck) Arett, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Brett (Sara) Stiles, of West Des Moines, Iowa, Megan Stiles, of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Jared and Nick Arett, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and her cousins: Jim McDiarmid, Dee Mittelstadt, and Rick and Sandy Thorpe; as well as extended family members and many friends.
Jane was preceded in death by her father, Jess Sorenson; her husband, Francis Duffy, and an infant son, James Kuzniar.
Memorial services will take place on Thursday, February 19, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Wednesday, February 18, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
