Kenneth W. Johnson, age 93, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at the North Lake Manor in Storm Lake.

Kenneth Walter Johnson, a son of Carl and Eleanor (Nelson) Johnson, was born in Albert City, Iowa, on January 29, 1921. He lived his youth in the Albert City and graduated from the Albert City High School in 1940. From June 24, 1942, until January 1, 1946, he served his country honorably in the United States Navy.

Following his discharge, Ken lived many years in Elmhurst, Illinois, where he worked as an accountant at the Merit Chevrolet dealership. He moved to Storm Lake, Iowa, in 1976 and was employed at the Peterson car dealership. He had made his home at North Lake Manor since September 27, 2006.

An avid Chicago Cubs fan, Ken enjoyed attending the Brookfield Zoo when he lived in Chicago. He, also, collected newspaper articles pertaining to his family.

Ken’s life will be remembered by members of his family including his sons, Scott (Laura) Johnson, of Upland, California, and Eric Peter (Jorja) Johnson, of Allerton, Illinois; his grandchildren: Aaron, Billy, Catherine Noel, Curtis, David, and Eric Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Donna Johnson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Terry, who died on May 27, 2000; his sister, Nadine; and his brother, Wayne.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. Burial will follow in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation with the family present will take place one hour before the service at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
