On Saturday, May 24, 2014, Glennys Pederson, a child of God, passed into the waiting arms of her beloved Savior.

Glennys Pederson was born on September 21, 1920, to Ralph and Elsie (Garriott) Corderman on a farm near Nemaha, Iowa. Baptized into the Christian faith in Sac City and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she attended school and graduated from Providence Consolidated School in Sulphur Springs, Iowa, in 1937. In 1941, she graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City with a BA degree in Secondary Education/Music. While attending Morningside, she met her future husband, M.R. (Pete) Pederson. They married in 1942 after he had graduated from Denver University with a MS degree in Statistics. After Pete was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the Army, she traveled with him to each Army post until he was sent overseas. After World War II, they lived in Chicago for five years where Pete worked for International Harvester.

Glennys and Pete moved to rural Storm Lake in 1949 to work her parents’ farm since they were retiring. In 1964, they moved to Storm Lake and built their new home on the lake. Pete and Glennys enjoyed their lake home for forty-two years before moving to Lake Pointe Villa in 2006. Glennys taught school for twenty-two years – at Grand Meadow, Sulphur Springs, and Newell. A charter member at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, she played the organ for the first service in the new church. She taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years and played the organ for thirty-one years. She and her husband, Pete, also worked diligently to establish the Concordia Lutheran School in Storm Lake which successfully operated for ten years providing a Christian education for area children. She continued to actively participate in the events at Grace Lutheran Church and delighted in her Christian fellowship while living her remaining years at Lake Pointe Villa in Storm Lake. She, also, enjoyed volunteering at the Buena Vista County Hospital for several years.

Glennys is survived by two children, Marlene (Paul) Armbrecht, of Rockwell City, Iowa, and Ted (Trudee) Pederson, of Peoria, Arizona; nine grandchildren: Eric (Jenni) Armbrecht, of Des Moines, Iowa, Todd Armbrecht (fiancée, Chelsea Morgan), of West Des Moines, Iowa, Tobee (Will) Andersen, of Peoria, Arizona, Tabitha Pederson, of Chicago, Illinois, Amy (Bill) Sadera, of Baltimore, Maryland, Alyssa (Scott) Randall, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tate Pederson, also of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tony Pederson, of Treasure Island, Florida, and Aaron (Sarah) Armbrecht, of Bismarck, North Dakota; nine great-grandchildren, Emma, Jonathan, Ethan, and Joshua Armbrecht, of Des Moines, Iowa, Will and Madalyn Sadera, of Baltimore, Maryland, Bella and Layla Andersen, of Peoria, Arizona, and Natalie and Sophia Randall, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Pederson, in Hawaii; as well as by a by special friend, Bob Brostad. Glennys was proceeded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of almost sixty-five years, M.R.(Pete) Pederson in 2007.

Please don’t be sad for me for my Jesus and Savior has blessed me with ninety-three wonderful years. I pray for all of you at Lake Pointe Villa and for my family and friends that you each may know your Lord and Savior as your very own. In Jesus name. Amen. Love, Glennys

Visitation: 5:00-8:00 p.m., May 26, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., May 27, 1914, at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: May 27, 2014, at the Storm Lake Cemetery.
