LaVon Lehmann, age 83, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on December 7, 2014, at North Lake Manor in Storm Lake.

LaVon Mae Frank was born on April 18, 1931, at home in Sac County near Ulmer, Iowa. Baptized into the Lutheran faith on May 10, 1931, by Reverend E.A. Fritz at Peace Lutheran Church in Ulmer, she was, later, confirmed in the same church by Reverend C.C Meyer on May 28, 1944.

LaVon received her grade school education in a country school. Then, she went on to graduate from Lake View High School on May 18, 1949. Later, she attended and received a degree from Omaha Secretarial School on December 23, 1949. Until February of 1953, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper in Sac City, Iowa.

LaVon married Arlin Lehmann on February 15, 1953, at Peace Lutheran Church in Ulmer with Reverend Mark Bergman officiating. Subsequently, they were blessed with two children, David and Linda.

LaVon and Arlin lived and farmed three and a half miles east of Storm Lake having moved to Arlin’s home place in Grant Township in 1981. There, they enjoyed working together on the farm. From 1953 to1963, they attended Zion Lutheran Church before transferring to Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake where she taught Sunday school for several years.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Arlin, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her daughter, Linda Goyette, and her husband, Tom, of Spencer, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Joyce Lehmann-Stoll, and her husband, Clair, of Swisher, Iowa; five grandchildren: Ryan (Nichole) Lehmann, Brandi (Brian) McClanahan, Matt (Allison) Goyette, Melissa Tuzzio, and David Goyette; and her great-grandchildren: Sierra, Mathew, and Carter Goyette; Payten, Bailey, and Taytem Lehmann; Kaelyn and Kian McClanahan; and Ethan Tuzzio; as well as extended family members and many friends.

LaVon was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ida Frank; her parents-in-law, Fred and Clara Lehmann; her son, David Lehmann; her brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Sadie Frank; and her nephew, Joseph Frank.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will take place in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
