November 5, 1939 - November 2, 2014Maxine Lullmann, age 74, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on November 2, 2014, at Otsego Place in Storm Lake.
Maxine Ruth Gerke was born on November 5, 1939, at Swallum Hospital in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Ewald and Alice (Herzberg) Gerke. Baptized into the Christian faith on November 7, 1939, and confirmed on November 29, 1953, she attended Zion Parochial School for eight years before graduating from Newell High School in 1957.
On February 4, 1962, she married Henry “Shorty” Lullmann, Jr., at Zion Lutheran Church. They were, subsequently, blessed with twin boys, Kevin Lynn and Kent Lee.
After graduating from school, she worked at two banks. Later, she managed several cafés, and then, she worked at St. Mary’s kitchen. In time, all her grandkids would attend St. Mary’s School. She loved to cook and bake for the members of her family. Known for her potato salad, coconut pies, cherry cheese cakes, and banana bread, she would either send some home with them or take some to their homes. Very proud of her children and grandchildren, she, always, enjoyed going to the pool with them and attending their ballgames. She, also, liked to camp with family and friends.
To mourn her passing, she leaves behind her sons and their wives, Kevin and Brenda and Kent and Theresa, all of Storm Lake, Iowa; five grandchildren: Taylor, Ashley, Colton, Dalton, and Carson, also all of Storm Lake, Iowa; her brother, Clifford (Norma) Gerke, of Newell, Iowa; and her sister, Fern (Jim) Bjorklund, of Storm Lake, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, “Shorty;” her brother, Willard Gerke; and her parents-in-law, Henry, Sr., and Louise Lullmann.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
