Bernice Marie Herpst
October 20, 1924 - December 24, 1999

Bernice Marie (Boettcher) Herpst passed away on December 24, 1999, in Sioux City, Iowa.

Born and baptized at her family's home in Lincoln Township on October 20, 1924, Bernice, a daughter of John and Alma (Boese) Boettcher, was later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church on April 10, 1938. She remained a lifelong member, serving her church faithfully and loyally.

She attended grade school at Lincoln Country School #8 and then transferred to Truesdale High School. After graduating from high school, she married William Lewis Herpst at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, on November 10, 1948.

Bernice worked in the retail business in Storm Lake for many years. She loved to watch sporting events, work crossword puzzles, play cards, and she always enjoyed a game of Bingo.

She was preceded in her death by her parents; her husband, William Herpst; and her brothers, Victor and Wilber Boettcher.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Alma Boettcher, Leone Boettcher, and Dorothy Herpst; and her brothers-in-law, Albert and Pat Herpst; along with four nieces, six nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services for Bernice Marie (Boettcher) Herpst will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 1999, at 1:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Storm Lake.

Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements.
