Kenneth M. Johnson, age 96, of Ankeny, formerly of Storm Lake, passed away on Friday, May 09, 2014, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center of Des Moines.

Kenneth M. Johnson was born on December 8, 1917, to Pago and Elizabeth (Strock) Johnson, in Storm Lake, Iowa. On September 5, 1940, he married Mildred Bodine. By the time of Mildred’s death on December 13, 2013, they had been married for seventy-three years. The couple was blessed with two children, Alyn and Galyn.

Ken entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked for Bodaken/Luedke International Harvester as a salesman until he retired. He enjoyed attending family’s events as well as golfing. He and Mildred enjoyed spending their winters in Texas.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brothers, Richard and Darold.

He is survived by his sons, Alyn Johnson, and his wife, Judy, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Galyn Johnson, and his wife, Glenda, of Ankeny, Iowa; his grandchildren, Derek Johnson, and his wife, Lorey, of Charleston, South Carolina, Michelle Schroder, and her husband, Mike, of Ankeny, Iowa, and Melissa Carter, of Ankeny, Iowa; his great-grandchildren, Ryan and Malorie Schroder, Addison and Casen Carter, and Tinsley Johnson.

Burial Service: Scandinavian Cemetery of Alta with military rites conducted by the Alta VFW Post #6172.
