Ione A. Sievert, age 80, of Holladay, Utah, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Alta Ridge Communities in Holladay.

Ione Anita Wetherell, a daughter of Lavern and Pauline Wetherell, was born near Peterson, Iowa, on November 2, 1933. She lived her youth in the Peterson area and graduated from the Peterson High School in 1951. While residing in Peterson, Ione attended the Congregational Church.

On May 17, 1953, Ione married Charles Sievert. They were, subsequently, blessed with two children, Marlin and Norma. They spent their married life in Storm Lake where they raised their children. For several years, Ione worked as a waitress before she was hired as a nurses’ aide at the Buena Vista County Hospital, a position she held for over thirty years. Following her husband’s death, she moved to Sandy, Utah, so she could be closer to her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Those left to celebrate and cherish her life include her children, Marlin (LeRuth) Sievert, of Plover, Wisconsin, and Norma (David) Seger, of Sandy, Utah; five grandchildren: Christopher, Candace, and Colby Sievert; Sandra (Pete) Kosierowski, and John David Seger; three great grandchildren, John Alexander and Zoë Kosierowski and John Hunter Seger; two sisters, Ruth Miller, of Ruthven, Iowa, and Janis Raveling, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; and two brothers, Max Wetherell, of Peterson, Iowa, and Bill (Nadine) Wetherell, of Fairfield, California; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, in 2000; and two sisters, Dorothy Davis and Doris Cox.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will take place in the Storm Lake Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will start at 9:00 a.m. and continue until the time of the service at the church. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
